RTE is reporting that BBC is interested in the possibility of making a big-screen adaption of the original British version of The Office. Additionally, BBC would be interested in film deals for Little Britain and Ricky Gervais’s (creator/star of The Office) other show, Extras.

The BBC’s Head of Comedy Talent, Kenton Allen had the following to say: “Many of the comedy talents we work with ultimately want to paint on a bigger canvas, and this relationship with BBC Films means that we can now offer them that opportunity.”

Not sure what to think of this. The original ‘Office‘ is one of my favorite comedies (as is the current US version), but they ended it pretty well, so I’m not sure how they would continue it on the big-screen, nor how the format would play in an extended form.
