Broadcast TV Ratings for Thursday, June 21, 2007

FOX takes the evening with its solid combination of ‘5th Grader’ and ‘Dance‘, despite the later losing a bit of steam. CBS a close second among households and viewers.

Fox finished in first place for the evening with a 5.8/11 household rating, 9.05 million viewers and a 3.1/10 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.7/11 HH rating [#1]
    • 10.30M viewers [#1]
    • 3.6/12 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (5.7/11 HH rating, 9.13M viewers, 2.9/10 A18-49 rating) led off the night for FOX in first place for the hour, this all despite slight dips week-to-week across the board.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.9/11 to 5.7/11
      • Viewers – 9.97M to 9.13M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.2/11 to 2.9/10
  • 9:00 p.m.: So You Think You Can Dance? (5.9/10 HH rating, 8.97M viewers, 3.4/10 A18-49 rating) grew a bit from its lead-in among households and viewers, but took a somewhat noticeable loss across the board from the week prior. Losses were at 1.66 million viewers (16%), 9% among households and 15% among adults 18-49.

      • Households – 6.5/11 to 5.9/10
      • Viewers – 10.63M to 8.97M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.0/12 to 3.4/10

CBS followed in second place for the evening with a 5.2/9 household rating, 7.75 million viewers and a 2.1/7 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.3/9 HH rating [#2]
    • 7.83M viewers [#2]
    • 1.9/6 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Pirate Master (3.8/7 HH rating, 5.88M viewers, 1.9/7 A18-49 rating) finally stemmed off its declining ratings, as the show perked up a bit in its fourth week. The show was up most among adults 18-49 where it grew by 27% from last week’s series low.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.7/7 to 3.8/7
      • Viewers – 5.39M to 5.88M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.5/5 to 1.9/7
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of CSI (6.2/11 HH rating, 9.20M viewers, 2.5/8 A18-49 rating) led the hour, and the evening, among households and viewers. The slight gain among adults 18-49 (+4%) counters the minimal weekly declines among households and viewers.

      • Viewers – 9.63M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.4/7
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of Shark (5.7/10 HH rating, 8.16M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating) remained steady from last week, registering slight gains across all categories, most significantly among adults 18-49, where the show was up by 11%.

      • Households – 5.8/10
      • Viewers – 8.46M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/6

NBC finished in third place for the evening with a 2.8/5 household rating, 4.34 million viewers and a 1.9/6 rating among adults 18-49.

    • 1.8/6 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00-10:00 p.m.: Three extended repeats of The Office (2.8/5 HH rating, 4.30M viewers, 1.9/6 A18-49 rating) remained consistent with last week’s two-hour time period occupants.
    • Last week’s numbers (My Name Is Earl-REPEAT – 8:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 3.2/6
      • Viewers – 4.94M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.7/6
    • Last week’s numbers (30 Rock-REPEAT – 8:30 p.m.):
      • Households – 2.8/5
      • Viewers – 4.09M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.6/5
    • Last week’s numbers (The Office-REPEAT – 9:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 3.0/5
      • Viewers – 4.49M
      • Adults 18-49 -2.1/7
    • Last week’s numbers (Scrubs-REPEAT – 9:30 p.m.):
      • Households – 2.6/4
      • Viewers – 3.86M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/6
  • 10:00 p.m.: A new episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (3.0/5 HH rating, 4.42M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating) gained slightly from last week, and hit highs for the show in its new time slot. Another good episode by the way.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.0/5 to 3.0/5
      • Viewers – 4.22M to 4.42M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.7/5 to 1.8/5

ABC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 2.7/5 household rating, 3.88 million viewers and a 1.2/4 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.2/9 HH rating [#3]
    • 7.53M viewers [#3]
    • 2.9/10 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Ugly Betty (2.9/5 HH rating, 4.00M viewers, 1.1/4 A18-49 rating) was barely noticed among the A18-49 crowd, dipping by 21% from last week’s already low ratings and just barely registering above a 1 in the demo.
    • Last week’s numbers (Fast Cars & Superstars – 8:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 2.6/5
      • Viewers – 3.60M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.3/5
    • Last week’s numbers (NBA Countdown – 8:30 p.m.):
      • Households – 2.8/5
      • Viewers – 4.01M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.5/5
  • 9:00-10:00 p.m.: Back-to-back repeats of Grey’s Anatomy (2.7/5 HH rating, 3.82M viewers, 1.3/4 A18-49 rating) grew just a tad from its lead-in, but again, was very lowly viewed. Just to note, this would have been the night for Game 7 of the NBA Finals. ABC definitely would have welcomed those ratings, in place of these, regardless of how low they were.     • Last week’s numbers (NBA Finals Game 4 – 9:00 – 11:52 p.m.):
      • Households – 6.5/12
      • Viewers – 9.91M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.0/13

The CW was left then in fifth place earning a 1.2/2 household rating, 2.03 million viewers and a 0.8/3 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 1.2/2 HH rating [#5]
    • 1.72M viewers [#5]
    • 0.6/2 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Smallville (1.3/2 HH rating, 2.00M viewers, 0.7/3 A18-49 rating) performed a litte better than it had in the past, reaching the 2M mark. Certainly a much more respectable number for a repeat.
    • Last week’s numbers (Smallville-REPEAT):
      • Households – 1.2/2
      • Viewers – 1.81M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.7/2
  • 9:00 p.m.: Same analysis goes for a repeat of Supernatural (1.2/2 HH rating, 2.06M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating), which actually managed to build from its lead-in among viewers and adults 18-49.
    • Last week’s numbers (Supernatural-REPEAT):
      • Households – 1.1/2
      • Viewers – 1.63M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.6/2
