Broadcast TV Ratings for Sunday, May 27, 2007

CBS comes out on top with crime repeats.

CBS finished in first place for the evening with a 5.2/10 household rating and 7.83 million viewers but was second among adults 18-49 with a 1.6/6 rating .

  • Last Week
    • 5.4/10 HH Rating [#1]
    • 7.88M Viewers [#1]
    • 1.5/4 A18-49 Rating [#2]
  • 7:00 p.m.: 60 Minutes (4.7/10 HH rating, 6.96M viewers, 1.2/5 A18-49 rating) put up a dreadful performance, declining 3.89 million viewers (36%), 36% among households and 33% among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.3/14 to 4.7/10
      • Viewers – 10.85M to 6.96M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.8/6 to 1.2/5
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Cold Case (4.3/9 HH rating, 6.47M viewers, 1.2/5 A18-49 rating) didn’t grow any from its lead-in, providing a weaker than average performance.
  • 9:00 p.m.: Another repeat of Cold Case (5.9/11 HH rating, 8.80M viewers, 1.9/6 A18-49 rating) improved things quite a bit, growing 2.33 million viewers (36%), 37% among households and 58% among adults 18-49.
  • 10:00 p.m.: And a repeat of Without A Trace (6.1/12 HH rating, 9.08M viewers, 2.2/7 A18-49 rating) ended the evening very positively for CBS, growing from its lead-in and posting a solid second place rating among adults 18-49.

      • Households – 4.8/8
      • Viewers – 6.89M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.4/4

Fox followed in second place for the evening with a 4.7/9 household rating and 7.64 million viewers but managed a solid first place among adults 18-49 with a 2.8/10 rating.

  • 7:00-11:00 p.m.: FOX’s coverage of the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 (4.7/9 HH rating, 7.64M viewers, 2.8/10 A18-49 rating) gave the network a first place finish for the evening among adults 18-49, despite its lower total viewership figure.

  • 7:00 p.m.: A repeat of America’s Funniest Home Videos (2.8/6 HH rating, 4.58M viewers, 1.4/6 A18-49 rating) started off the evening for ABC.
    • Last week’s numbers (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition):
      • Households – 4.6/9
      • Viewers – 7.39M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.5/9
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.2/6 HH rating, 4.96M viewers, 1.7/6 A18-49 rating) improved upon its lead-in among all categories, growth was most present among adults 18-49 (+21%).
    • Last week’s numbers (Extreme Makeover: Home Edition – season finale):
      • Households – 7.7/13
      • Viewers – 12.57M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.5/13
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of Desperate Housewives (2.5/5 HH rating, 3.64M viewers, 1.3/4 A18-49 rating) showed just how weak serialized programs are when it comes to repeats.
    • Last week’s numbers (Desperate Housewives – season finale):
      • Households – 12.0/19
      • Viewers – 18.82M
      • Adults 18-49 – 7.2/17
  • 10:00: And lastly, a repeat of Brothers & Sisters (2.4/4 HH rating, 3.40M viewers, 1.2/4 A18-49 rating) dipped even further down from its lead-in.
    • Last week’s numbers (Brothers & Sisters – season finale):
      • Households – 8.4/14
      • Viewers – 12.31M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.5/12

NBC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 2.6/5 household rating and 3.70 million viewers and tied for fourth among adults 18-49 with a 0.9/3 rating.

    • 5.89M Viewers [#4]
    • 2.0/6 A18-49 Rating [#4]
  • 7:00-9:00 p.m.: A two-hour edition of Dateline NBC (3.2/7 HH rating, 4.56M viewers, 1.0/5 A18-49 rating) was weak, but it’s expected at this point.  They are the program so many times during the week, you can’t really realistically expect it to do well.
    • Week-to-week numbers (vs. 7:00-8:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 3.1/6 to 3.2/7
      • Viewers – 4.46M to 4.56M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.2/4 to 1.0/5
  • 9:00 p.m.: NBC has good intentions in airing a repeat of Friday Night Lights (1.7/3 HH rating, 2.38M viewers, 0.8/3 A18-49 rating), but unfortunately, the audience didn’t seem all that interested, with dreadful ratings being posted especially among adults 18-49.
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2.4/5 HH rating, 3.32M viewers, 1.0/3 A18-49 rating) suffered a bit, ending a very low-rated evening for the network.
    • Last week’s numbers (National Treasure – 8:00-11:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 4.1/7
      • Viewers – 6.37M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.2/6

The CW was left then in fifth place with a 0.9/2 household rating and 1.45 million total viewers, while managing a tie for fourth place among adults 18-49 with a 0.9/2 rating.

  • The CW got expected results from repeats.
  • 7:00 p.m.: A repeat of 7th Heaven (0.9/2 HH rating, 1.29M viewers, 0.4/2 A18-49 rating).

      • Households – 0.9/2
      • Viewers – 1.18M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.4/2
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of Smallville (0.9/2 HH rating, 1.54M viewers, 0.5/2 A18-49 rating).
    • Last week’s numbers (Gilmore Girls-REPEAT):
      • Households – 1.1/2
      • Viewers – 1.44M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.6/2
  • 9:00 p.m.: And a repeat of Supernatural (0.9/2 HH rating, 1.52M viewers, 0.6/2 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for The CW.
    • Last week’s numbers (America’s Next Top Model Encore-REPEAT):
      • Households – 1.0/2
      • Viewers – 1.43M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.6/2
