Broadcast TV Ratings for the Week Ending 4/9/2007

CBS and Fox share the weekly crown, with CBS coming on top among households and viewers and Fox among adults 18-49. Though ABC was the only network to show improvement vs. the same frame last year.

Before getting into the ratings data, here are a few show highlights.

On Monday, Fox aired the season finale of Prison Break and the series failed to match last season’s numbers, dipping across the board by

  • Prison Break
    • Households – 5.0/8 Rating, 5.600M households
    • Viewers – 2.9 Rating, 8.118M viewers
    • Adults 18-49 – 3.4/10 Rating, 4.476M demo viewers

Declines were 22% among households, 21% viewers and 24% among adults 18-49.

Also on Monday was the NCAA Championship between Florida and Ohio State. And the game was a strong draw, increasing its audience from last year’s game.

  • CBS NCAA Basketball Championship Game Ohio State Vs. Florida
    • Households – 12.2/20 Rating, 13.625M households
    • Viewers – 6.9 Rating, 19.563M viewers
    • Adults 18-49 – 7.2/19 Rating, 9.364M demo viewers

And now, on to the weekly ratings.

Compared to the year prior, CBS was down 9% among total households, down 7% among total viewers and down 10% among adults 18-49. ABC was up 19% among total households, up 15% among total viewers and down 0.5% among adults 18-49. FOX was down 2% among total households, down 3% among total viewers and down 9% among adults 18-49. NBC was down 22% among total households, down 24% among total viewers and down 28% among adults 18-49. And finally The CW was down 10% among total households, down 12% among total viewers and down 12% among adults 18-49 (all compared against the averages of UPN and The WB).

CBS finished in first place with a 7.3/12 rating among households (8.13 million), a 4.1/11 rating among viewers (11.51 million) and a 3.2/9 rating among adults 18-49 (4.22 million).

ABC followed in second place with a 6.1/10 rating among households (6.77 million) but was third among viewers with a 3.3/9 rating (9.32 million) and third among adults 18-49 with a 3.0/9 rating (3.96 million).

FOX finished in third for the week with a 5.9/10 rating among households (6.55 million), but drew a stronger second among viewers with a 3.4/9 rating (9.66 million) and was first among adults 18-49 with a 3.8/11 rating (4.94 million).

NBC followed in fourth for the week among households with a 4.7/8 rating (5.22 million), a 2.5/7 rating among viewers (7.07 million) and third among adults 18-49 with a 2.2/6 rating (2.87 million).
