Broadcast TV Ratings for Tuesday, April 10, 2007

Fox wins another Tuesday evening while CBS and ABC battle it out for second place.

Fox finished in first place for the evening with a 14.0/22 household rating, 23.78 million total viewers and a 9.4/25 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 13.9/22 HH rating [#1]
    • 23.51M viewers [#1]
    • 9.5/25 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: American Idol (15.2/24 HH rating, 26.00M viewers, 10.0/28 A18-49) took a slight dip from the week prior, but even still, was easily the evenings top-rated and most watched show.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 15.7/25 to 15.2/24
      • Viewers – 26.67M to 26.00M
      • Adults 18-49 – 10.4/29 to 10.0/28
  • 9:00 p.m.: House (12.9/20 HH rating, 21.55M viewers, 8.7/22 A18-49) improved a decent amount from last weeks outing, increasing most among households, where it was up 7%.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 12.1/19 to 12.9/20
      • Viewers – 20.35M to 21.55M
      • Adults 18-49 – 8.7/22 to 8.7/22

ABC followed in second place for the evening with a 7.8/12 household rating, but was third among viewers (11.58 million) and among adults 18-49 (2.9/8 rating).

  • Last Week:
    • 6.5/10 HH rating [#3]
    • 9.73M viewers [#3]
    • 2.7/7 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Dancing With the Stars Recap Show (5.2/8 HH rating, 7.57M viewers, 2.3/6 A18-49 rating) gave ABC a much more solid performance for the hour, improving 70% among households, 79% among viewers and 53% among adults 18-49.
    • Last weeks numbers (George Lopez-REPEAT — 8:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 3.1/5
      • Viewers – 4.30M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.5/4
    • Last weeks numbers (According to Jim-REPEAT — 8:30 p.m.):
      • Households – 3.0/5
      • Viewers – 4.18M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.5/4
  • 9:00 p.m.: Dancing With the Stars: Results Show (11.3/17 HH rating, 17.01M viewers, 4.1/10 A18-49 rating) managed to grow a solid 2.02M viewers and 14% among households over last weeks results show.  Growth among adults 18-49 was a little weaker at 5%, but growth none the less.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 9.9/15 to 11.3/17
      • Viewers – 14.99M to 17.01M
      • A18-49 – 3.9/10 to 4.1/10
  • 10:00 p.m.: Boston Legal (7.0/12 HH rating, 10.48M viewers, 2.9/8 A18-49 rating) benefited from its stronger lead-in.  Growth wasn’t too dramatic, but an improvement from prior weeks at 510,000 viewers, 4% among households and 12% among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.7/11 to 7.0/12
      • Viewers – 9.97M to 10.48M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/7 to 2.9/8

CBS finished in third place for the evening with a 7.5/12 household rating, but narrowly passed ABC among viewers (11.60 million) and among adults 18-49 (3.0/8 rating).

  • Last Week:
    • 6.8/11 HH rating [#2]
    • 10.52M viewers [#2]
    • 2.9/8 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m.: NCIS (9.2/14 HH rating, 14.36M viewers, 3.3/9 A18-49 rating) continues to put up very strong competition against Fox’s powerhouse American Idol.  It actually managed to increase its audience by 570,000 viewers, 6% among households and 3% among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 8.7/14 to 9.2/14
      • Viewers – 13.79M to 14.36M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.2/9 to 3.3/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: With the stronger lead-in, came a better overall performance for The Unit (6.6/10 HH rating, 10.47M viewers, 2.8/7 A18-49 rating) which grew 640,000 viewers and 6% among households.  One negative aspect though was the slight (and I do mean slight) decline among adults 18-49 by 3%.

      • Households – 6.2/10 to 6.6/10
      • Viewers – 9.83M to 10.47M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.9/7 to 2.8/7
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of Criminal Minds (6.7/11 HH rating, 9.97M viewers, 2.9/8 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for CBS in a solid position, growing respectably from last weeks repeat of CSI: Miami.  Though CBS still has not found a suitable series to fill in this time slot, they appear to be doing just fine airing repeats.
    • Last weeks numbers (CSI: Miami-REPEAT)
      • Households – 5.4/9
      • Viewers – 7.93M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.5/7

NBC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 4.4/7 household rating, 6.34 million viewers and a 2.1/6 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.6/9 HH rating [#4]
    • 8.03M viewers [#4]
    • 2.7/7 A18-49 rating [#t3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Dateline NBC (3.6/6 HH rating, 5.01M viewers, 1.7/5 A18-49 rating) led off the evening for NBC (its only new series for the night) and its performance wasn’t all that special as it declined from last week.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.1/7 to 3.6/6
      • Viewers – 5.80M to 5.01M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/5 to 1.7/5
  • The rest of NBC’s night was filled with reruns, with Special Victims Unit performing the best of the two.
  • 9:00 p.m.: A repeat of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (3.9/6 HH rating, 5.57M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating).
    • Last weeks numbers (Law & Order: Criminal Intent):
      • Households – 5.1/8
      • Viewers – 7.14M to M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.3/6 to
  • 10:00 p.m.: A repeat of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (5.8/10 HH rating, 8.43M viewers, 2.7/7 A18-49 rating).
    • Last weeks numbers (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit):
      • Households – 7.6/13 to
      • Viewers – 11.16M to M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.9/11 to

The CW finished in fifth place for the evening with a 1.5/2 household rating, 2.21 million viewers and a 0.9/3 rating among adults 18-49

  • Last Week:
    • 1.6/2 HH rating [#5]
    • 2.29M viewers [#5]
    • 1.0/3 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • 8:00 PM: A repeat of Gilmore Girls (1.3/2 HH rating, 1.79M viewers, 0.7/2 A18-49 rating) started the evening off for The CW.  Good news for GG fans though, new episodes return this coming next Tuesday.
    • Last weeks numbers (Gilmore Girls-REPEAT)
      • Households – 1.2/2
      • Viewers – 1.65M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.7/2
  • 9:00 PM: Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll (1.7/3 HH rating, 2.64M viewers, 1.2/3 A18-49 rating) improved greatly from its very poor performance last week, increasing its audience by 350,000 viewers (15%) and 20% among adults 18-49.  Probably more noteworthy though was its solid growth from its lead-in of 850,000 viewers, 31% among households and 71% among adults 18-49.

      • Households – 1.7/3 to 1.7/3
      • Viewers – 2.29M to 2.64M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.0/2 to 1.2/3
