Broadcast TV Ratings for Monday, April 9, 2007

ABC comes on top among households and viewers, but CBS manages a first place tie among adults 18-49.

ABC finished in first place for the evening with a 9.2/15 household rating and 13.96 million viewers, but had to settle for a tie with CBS among adults 18-49 with a 4.1/11 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 9.9/16 HH rating [#1]
    • 14.75M viewers [#1]
    • 4.3/12 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00-9:30 p.m.: Dancing With the Stars (12.2/19 HH rating, 18.69M viewers, 4.8/13 A18-49 rating) opened the evening for ABC in a solid and consistent position, even from last week and number one for the evening among households, viewers and adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers (vs. 8:00-9:45 p.m.):
      • Households – 12.1/19 to 12.2/19
      • Viewers – 18.24M to 18.69M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.8/13 to 4.8/13
  • 9:30-11:00 p.m.: The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman (6.3/10 HH rating, 9.23M viewers, 3.4/9 A18-49 rating) slid some from last weeks episode, but still put up solid numbers for ABC.  Retention was best among adults 18-49 at 71%.
    • Week-to-week numbers (vs. 9:45-11:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 6.9/11 to 6.3/10
      • Viewers – 9.86M to 9.23M
      • A18-49 – 3.7/9 to 3.4/9

CBS followed in second place for the evening with a 7.9/13 household rating and 12.35 million viewers, but managed a first place tie with ABC among adults 18-49 with a 4.1/11.

    • 5.5/15 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 PM and 8:30 p.m.: How I Met Your Mother (5.0/8 HH rating, 7.73M viewers, 3.1/9 A18-49 rating) & The New Adventures of Old Christine (4.8/7 HH rating, 7.73M viewers, 3.0/8 A18-49 rating) returned slightly stronger from their last newly aired episodes, especially ‘Old Christine’ which bounced up 20% among adults 18-49.  Though, it must be said these numbers are below-average for the show which had much better numbers when it aired out of Two and a Half Men.

      • Viewers – 7.27M to 7.73M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.9/8 to 3.1/9
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (‘Old Christine’ — 3/19/2007):
      • Households – 4.6/7 to 4.8/7
      • Viewers – 6.74M to 7.73M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.5/6 to 3.0/8
    • Last weeks numbers (‘Mother’-REPEAT – 8:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 3.9/7
      • Viewers – 5.58M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.0/6
    • Last weeks numbers (Two and a Half Men-REPEAT – 8:30 p.m.):
      • Households – 4.6/8
      • Viewers – 6.86M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.4/7
  • 9:00 & 9:30 p.m.: Two and a Half Men (8.4/13 HH rating, 13.39M viewers, 4.5/11 A18-49 rating) and The King of Queens (8.6/13 HH rating, 13.37M viewers, 4.6/11 A18-49 rating) proved to  be very compatible with each other, with nearly identical ratings and The King of Queens actually managed to build slightly upon its lead-in. Growth from the last newly aired episode of The King of Queens was a remarkable 4.90M viewers, 56% among households and 59% among adults 18-49.  CBS seems to have made a great decision on airing the final episodes of the series out of Two and a Half Men.

      • Households – 7.6/11 to 8.4/13
      • Viewers – 11.68M to 13.39M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.0/10 to 4.5/11
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (The King of Queens — 1/3/2007 at 8:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 5.5/9 to 8.6/13
      • Viewers – 8.47M to 13.37M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.9/8 to 4.6/11
    • Last weeks numbers (CBS NCAA Basketball Championship Game Ohio State Vs. Florida):
      • Households – 12.2/20
      • Viewers – 19.56M
      • Adults 18-49 – 7.2/19
  • 10:00 p.m.: CSI: Miami (10.4/17 HH rating, 15.94M viewers, 4.6/12 A18-49 rating) was unable to match the rating of its last newly aired episode, dipping 1.72M viewers, 10% among households and 15% among adults 18-49.  Having said that though, the show was still very strong and CBS’s top-rated show for the evening.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (3/19/2007):
      • Households – 11.6/19 to 10.4/17
      • Viewers – 17.66M to 15.94M
      • Adults 18-49 – 5.4/14 to 4.6/12

Fox finished in third place for the evening with a 6.0/9 household rating and 9.35 million viewers and tied for third with NBC among adults 18-49 with a 3.5/9 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.9/9 HH rating [#3]
    • 9.53M viewers [#3]
    • 3.9/10 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: A repeat of House (4.9/8 HH rating, 7.32M viewers, 2.6/7 A18-49 rating), which Fox really seems to be using much recently to fill in for other shows, did well.
    • Last weeks numbers (Season Finale of Prison Break):
      • Households – 5.0/8
      • Viewers – 8.12M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.4/10
  • 9:00 p.m.: 24 (7.1/11 HH rating, 11.38M viewers, 4.4/11 A18-49 rating) stayed consistent, growing slightly among households and viewers from last weeks episode.  It’s worth noting though, that the show remains at a level below its average.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.7/10 to 7.1/11
      • Viewers – 10.95M to 11.38M
      • Adults 18-49 – 4.4/11 to 4.4/11

NBC followed in fourth place for the evening with a 5.7/9 household rating and 9.18 million viewers, but managed a third place tie with Fox among adults 18-49 with a 3.5/9 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.8/9 HH rating [#4]
    • 9.23M viewers [#4]
    • 2.9/7 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Deal or No Deal (6.8/11 HH rating, 10.92M viewers, 3.1/9 A18-49 rating) stayed even from last weeks episode, second for the hour and NBC’s top rated show for the evening among households and viewers.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.1/12 to 6.8/11
      • Viewers – 11.45M to 10.92M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.2/9 to 3.1/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: That was followed by the series premiere of Thank God You’re Here (5.8/9 HH rating, 9.54M viewers, 3.9/10 A18-49 rating) which actually did very well.  Despite losing households and viewers from its lead-in, the series managed to build rather nicely among adults 18-49 (+26%).
    • Last weeks numbers (Deal or No Deal-REPEAT):
      • Households – 6.7/10
      • Viewers – 10.93M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.4/8
  • 10:00 p.m.: Another hour-long episode of Thank God You’re Here (4.4/7 HH rating, 7.08M viewers, 3.5/10 A18-49 rating) wasn’t quite as strong in its second hour.  It shed a good chunk of its overall audience.  One positive though was while it lost overall audience, it didn’t lose much ground among adults 18-49.

      • Households – 3.6/6
      • Viewers – 5.30M
      • A18-49 – 2.0/5

The CW was left for a fifth place finish with a 1.4/2 household rating, 2.12 million viewers and a 0.8/2 rating among adults 18-49.

    • 0.7/2 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • The CW aired another evening of repeats.
  • 8:00 and 8:30 p.m.: Everybody Hates Chris (1.3/2 HH rating, 2.06M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating) and All of Us (1.4/2 HH rating, 2.07M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating).

      • Households – 1.3/2
      • Viewers – 1.79M
      • Adults 18-49 – 0.8/2

  • 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.: Girlfriends (1.4/2 HH rating, 2.19M viewers, 0.9/2 A18-49 rating) and The Game (1.4/2 HH rating, 2.15M viewers, 0.8/2 A18-49 rating).
