Top 10 Box Office for Friday, March 9, 2007

According to preliminary estimates, Warner Bros. 300 debuted with an amazing $27.80M on Friday, taking an easy first place.

There were no other new releases in the top 10, which explains how 300 was able to so effectively capitalize on the weekend movie going audience.

Rounding out the top 5 was Wild Hogs in second place with $7.87M ($57.28M through 8 days of release), Zodiac in third place with $2.07M ($19.02M through 8 days of release), Ghost Rider in fourth place with $1.91M ($99.26M through 22 days of release) and Bridge to Terabithia in fifth place with $1.79M ($61.94M through 22 days of release).

Rounding out the top 10 then was The Number 23 was in sixth place with $1.29M ($27.45M through 15 days of release), Music and Lyrics in seventh place with $1.23M ($41.25M through 24 days of release), Norbit in eighth place with $1.17M ($85.19M through 29 days of release), Breach in ninth place with $.745M ($27.26M through 22 days of release) and lastly in 1oth place was Amazing Grace with $.74M ($9.65M through 15 days of release). Keep in mind, all numbers are based on estimates.

300 had the best per-theater average of any movie in the top 10 taking in an estimated $8,959/per theater out of 3,103 sites.
