Broadcast TV Ratings for Friday, February 23, 2007

CBS wins the evening, with the nights highest rated and most watched program (Numb3rs). The CW’s WWE Smackdown draws a very strong overall audience to pass up Fox for fourth place.

CBS finished in first place for the evening with a 6.9/12 household rating, 10.21 million total viewers and a 2.7/8 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 7.2/13 HH rating [#1]
    • 10.83M viewers [#1]
    • 2.9/9 A18-49 [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Ghost Whisperer (6.5/11 HH rating, 9.57M viewers, 2.7/9 A18-49 rating) was CBS’s weakest performer week-to-week for the evening, a surprise, given the show is usually very strong, especially among adults 18-49. It was down 1.83M viewers, 16% among households and 16% among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.7/14 to 6.5/11
      • Viewers – 11.40M to 9.57M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.2/11 to 2.7/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: Close to Home (6.8/12 HH rating, 10.14M viewers, 2.5/7 A18-49 rating) stayed about even from the week prior, making up its slight losses among households and viewers in its slight gain among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.0/12 to 6.8/12
      • Viewers – 10.42M to 10.14M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.4/7 to 2.5/7
  • 10:00 p.m.: Numb3rs (7.3/13 HH rating, 10.93M viewers, 2.9/9 A18-49 rating) ended the evening up from the week prior (the only CBS show able to boast about that feat) as the nights highest rated and most watched program.

      • Viewers – 10.66M to 10.93M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.0/9 to 2.9/9

NBC followed in second place for the evening with a 5.7/10 household rating, 8.67 million total viewers and a 2.5/8 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 p.m.: 1 vs. 100 (5.8/10 HH rating, 9.00M viewers, 2.4/8 A18-49 rating) was down slightly having to settle for second place for the hour across the board.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.9/10 to 5.8/10
      • Viewers – 9.35M to 9.00M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 2.4/8
  • 9:00 p.m.: Las Vegas (5.4/9 HH rating, 8.35M viewers, 2.5/7 A18-49 rating) improved slighly upon its week ago performance, and also grew out of its lead-in among the coveted adult 18-49 demo.

      • Viewers – 8.06M to 8.35M

  • 10:00 p.m.: The veteran Law & Order (5.9/10 HH rating, 8.64M viewers, 2.6/8 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for the peacock as the networks highest rated show among households and adults 18-49, coming in second place for the hour.

      • Houseoholds – 6.0/10 to 5.9/10
      • Viewers – 8.96M to 8.64M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 2.6/8

ABC finished in third place for the evening with a 4.2/7 household rating, 6.07 million total viewers and a 2.0/6 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 p.m.: An encore of Thursday night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy (3.8/7 HH rating, 5.52M viewers, 1.8/6 A18-49 rating) improved slightly from its weak ago performance to keep ABC in second place for the hour.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.3/6 to 3.8/7
      • Viewers – 4.97M to 5.52M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.7/6 to 1.8/6
  • 9:00 p.m.: An hour of 20/20 (4.2/7 HH rating, 6.07M viewers, 1.9/6 A18-49 rating) was about even from the timeslot occupant last week.
    • Week-to-week numbers (vs. Grey’s Anatomy Repeat):
      • Households – 3.9/6 to 4.2/7
      • Viewers – 5.69M to 6.07M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.2/6 to 1.9/6
  • 10:00 p.m.: With Anna Nicole Smith talk winding down, 20/20 (4.6/8 HH rating, 6.62M viewers, 2.2/7 A18-49 rating) came back to its more normal season average levels.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.6/10 to 4.6/8
      • Viewers – 8.33M to 6.62M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.7/8 to 2.2/7

Fox finished in fifth place for the evening with a 3.0/5 household rating and 4.44 million total viewers and tied for fourth among adults 18-49 with a 1.8/6 rating.

    • 4.75M viewers [#4]
    • 2.1/6 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Nanny 911 (3.1/5 HH rating, 4.59M viewers, 1.8/6 A18-49 rating) paced behind the first hour of The CW’s ‘Smackdown‘ among households and viewers, though was able to beat the show among adults 18-49.

  • 9:00 p.m.: Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy (2.9/5 HH rating, 4.30M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating) had to settle for fifth place for the hour behind the better than average ‘Smackdown’.

      • Viewers – 4.96M to 4.30M

The CW finished in fifth place with a 3.2/6 household rating, 5.38 million total viewers and a 1.8/5 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.: WWE Smackdown (3.2/6 HH rating, 5.38M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating) drew very strong ratings for The CW, drawing more than 5M viewers and peaking in the last half hour with an impressive 3.5/6 HH rating, 6.03M viewers and a 2.0/6 A18-49 rating.
