Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) has signed a four-year deal with ABC Television to remain on board with the network through the 2011 season. That will take the series through 7 seasons.
Though an exact figure is unknown, it is an eight-figure overall deal. All principle cast members are also signed through for at least as long as Cherry is involved.
Cherry told Variety that he has no plans to develop any projects past Desperate Housewives, telling the trade that “The studio and the network and I all feel it’s best for me to stay glued to the set. “I’ve got my ship, and I’m gonna run it.”
“I think that, at the end of my deal, and after seven seasons, it will be a good time to call it quits,” he said. “I don’t want anyone else to run the show, and I don’t want us to fade away.”
