Actors Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon have been tapped to star in a film about two real-life fighters from Massachusetts.
Variety reported on film, titled The Fighter, sheding some light on the Paramount project.
[A] drama about boxer “Irish” Micky Ward’s unlikely road to the world lightweight title. His Rocky-like rise was shepherded by half-brother Dicky, a boxer-turned-trainer who rebounded in life after nearly being KO’d by drugs and crime.
The duo recently acted together in the Scorsese directed mob hit The Departed, in which Wahlberg earned an Oscar nomination for. Variety reports that they will sign on to the film if they like the script (which is currently in a rewriting stage).
The Fighter will be produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Shotting is expected to begin in early Summer.
