Broadcast TV Ratings for Friday, February 2, 2007

CBS takes first place for the evening. The nights highest rated and most watched program was Numb3rs, while Ghost Whisperer came away with the top spot among adults 18-49. The CW gets great results from Smackdown.

CBS finished in first place for the evening with a 6.6/11 household rating, 10.52 million total viewers but was third among adults 18-49 with a 3.2/9 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 5.5/9 HH rating [#1]
    • 8.15M viewers [#1]
    • 2.1/6 A18-49 [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Ghost Whisperer (6.7/11 HH rating, 10.66M viewers, 3.3/10 A18-49 rating) was basically even from its last newly aired episode two weeks ago, growing slightly among total viewers and adults 18-49. It was the nights highest rated show among the key demo.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (1/12/2007):
      • Households – 6.7/11 to 6.7/11
      • Viewers – 10.44M to 10.66M
      • Adults 18-49 – 3.1/10 to 3.3/10
  • 9:00 p.m.: The special Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2007 (6.2/10 HH rating, 10.14M viewers, 3.2/10 A18-49 rating) turned in good results for CBS, up nearly 1M viewers (930,000), 13% among households and 10% among adults 18-49 from the year prior.
    • Year-to-year numbers (Saturday — 2/4/2006 — 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.):
      • Households – 5.5/10 to 6.2/10
      • Viewers – 9.21M to 10.14M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.9/9 to 3.2/10
  • 10:00 p.m.: Numb3rs (6.8/12 HH rating, 10.76M viewers, 3.1/9 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for CBS as the nights highest rated program. It should be noted, however, that it did not return as strongly as Ghost Whisperer, dipping 8% among households and nearly 1M viewers (820,000).

NBC followed in second place for the evening with a 6.1/10 household rating, 9.77 million total viewers and a 2.7/8 rating among adults 18-49.

  • 8:00 p.m.: 1 vs. 100 (6.3/11 HH rating, 10.33M viewers, 2.8/9 A18-49 rating) was even from last week, providing a strong second place showing for the network for the hour. It was NBC’s highest rated and most watched program for the evening among all three main categories.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.0/11 to 6.3/11
      • Viewers – 9.37M to 10.33M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 2.8/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: Las Vegas (6.0/10 HH rating, 9.52M viewers, 2.7/8 A18-49 rating) perked up nicely from its last newly aired episode two weeks past, up nearly 1M viewers (970,000) and 11% among households.

      • Households – 5.4/9 to 6.0/10
      • Viewers – 8.55M to 9.52M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.8/8 to 2.7/8
  • 10:00 p.m.: Law & Order (6.1/11 HH rating, 9.45M viewers, 2.7/8 A18-49 rating) also returned to solid numbers, holding up well against Numb3rs.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (1/12/2007):
      • Houseoholds – 6.2/11 to 6.1/11
      • Viewers – 9.02M to 9.45M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.7/8 to 2.7/8

ABC finished in third place for the evening with a 5.0/8 household rating, 7.02 million total viewers but was fourth among adults 18-49 with a 2.3/7 rating.

    • 6.06M viewers [#3]
    • 2.0/6 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m.: An encore of Thursday night’s Grey’s Anatomy (4.4/7 HH rating, 6.27M viewers, 2.2/7 A18-49 rating) was even from last week.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.4/7 to 4.4/7
      • Viewers – 6.35M to 6.27M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.2/7 to 2.2/7
  • 9:00 p.m.: A special installment of 20/20 (5.0/8 HH rating, 5.47M viewers, 2.2/6 A18-49 rating) improved the timeslot for ABC (check numbers below).
    • Week-to-week numbers (Brothers & Sisters R):
      • Households – 3.1/5 to 5.0/8
      • Viewers – 4.37M to 5.47M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.4.4 to 2.2/6
  • 10:00 p.m.: A regular edition of 20/20 (5.6/10 HH rating, 7.81M viewers, 2.5/7 A18-49 rating) was solid, up 10% among households to be ABC’s top rated and most watched program of the evening.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.1/9 to 5.6/10
      • Viewers – 7.46M to 7.81M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.6/8 to 2.5/7

Fox followed in fourth place for the evening with a 3.3/6 household rating, 5.22 million total viewers but was first among adults 18-49 with a 2.2/6 rating.

    • 2.3/7 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Nanny 911 (3.2/5 HH rating, 4.97M viewers, 2.0/6 A18-49 rating) was slighly up from last week’s installment.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.0/5 to 3.2/5
      • Viewers – 4.55M to 4.97M
      • Adults 18-49 – 1.9/6 to 2.0/6
  • 9:00 p.m.: Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy (3.5/6 HH rating, 5.47M viewers, 2.4/7 A18-49 rating) on the other hand was a little hit and miss, though growth out of Nanny 911 was strong, it was still down nearly 1M viewers (830,000), 13% among households and 14% among adults 18-49 from the week prior.

      • Households – 4.0/7 to 3.5/6
      • Viewers – 6.30M to 5.47M
      • Adults 18-49 – 2.8/8 to 2.4/7

The CW finished in fifth place with a 3.1/5 household rating, 5.07 million total viewers and a 1.6/5 rating among adults 18-49.

    • 1.4/4 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.: WWE Smackdown (3.1/5 HH rating, 5.07M viewers, 1.6/5 A18-49 rating) though still last place for the night, performed very strongly and anytime a CW show hits 5M viewers, its noteworthy. The two-hour program was up 570,000 viewers, 15% among households and 14% among adults 18-49. It peaked in the 9:00 p.m. hour with a 3.3/5 household rating, 5.41M viewers and a 1.8/5 rating among adults 18-49
