Broadcast TV Ratings for Friday, January 12, 2007

CBS wins the night among all main categories with its three hours of original programming. Numb3rs was the nights highest rated program among households and viewers, while Ghost Whisperer took the top spot among adults 18-49.

CBS finished in first place for the evening with a 7.0/12 household rating, 10.77 million total viewers and a 2.9/9 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 7.5/13 HH rating [#1]
    • 11.74M viewers [#1]
    • 3.1/9 A18-49 [#1]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Leading off another winning night for CBS was Ghost Whisperer (6.7/11 HH rating, 10.40M viewers, 3.1/10 A18-49 rating). It won the hour among all main categories and was the nights highest rated program among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.1/12 to 6.7/11
      • Viewers – 11.14M to 10.40M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/10 to 3.1/10
  • 9:00 p.m.: Following after then was Close to Home (6.9/11 HH rating, 10.45M viewers, 2.5/7 A18-49 rating) which held off NBC’s Las Vegas for a first place finish among households and viewers, but it had to settle for second place among adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.7/13 to 6.8/11
      • Viewers – 11.76M to 10.45M
      • A18-49 – 2.9/8 to 2.5/7
  • 10:00 p.m.: Ending the evening for the Eye was “Numb3rs” (7.3/13 HH rating, 11.46M viewers, 3.0/9 A18-49 rating) which was the top rated show for the evening among households and viewers (and second among adults 18-49, coming just behind Ghost Whisperer in the demo).
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 7.8/13 to 7.3/13
      • Viewers – 12.32M to 11.46M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/9 to 3.0/9

NBC finished in second place for the evening with a 5.8/10 household rating, 8.97 million total viewers and a 2.7/8 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 6.1/10 HH Rating [#2]
    • 9.47M viewers [#2]
    • 2.8/8 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • 8:00 p.m.: 1 vs. 100 (5.8/10 HH rating, 9.29M viewers, 2.8/9 A18-49 rating) was very consistent week-to-week (check numbers below) and managed to increase its A18-49 audience, to secure a second place finish for the hour among all three main categories.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.5/10 to 5.8/10
      • Viewers – 9.19M to 9.29M
      • A18-49 – 2.5/8 to 2.8/9
  • 9:00 p.m.: Despite losing nearly a million viewers from the week prior, Las Vegas (5.5/9 HH rating, 8.57M viewers, 2.7/8 A18-49 rating) still managed a second place finish for the hour.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.0/10 to 5.5/10
      • Viewers – 9.54M to 8.57M
      • A18-49 – 2.9/8 to 2.7/8
  • 10:00 p.m.: Ending the evening for NBC was Law & Order (6.2/11 HH rating, 9.05M viewers, 2.7/8 A18-49 rating) which dipped slightly from the week prior, but managed to build on its lead-in by nearly .5M viewers and 20% among households.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 6.5/11 to 6.2/11
      • Viewers – 9.67M to 9.05M
      • A18-49 – 2.9/8 to 2.7/8

ABC finished in third place for the evening with a 4.1/7 household rating, 5.92 million total viewers and a 2.0/6 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 3.4/6 HH rating [#3]
    • 4.89M viewers [#4]
    • 1.7/5 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Having basically written off Friday night original programming, due to the failure of Extreme Makeover and the movement of Men In Trees, the alphabet went with two repeats to start the night, beginning with Grey’s Anatomy (3.8/6 HH rating, 5.34M viewers, 1.8/5 A18-49 rating) which was only able to manage a third place hour finish. Though it was up from last week’s timeslot numbers (check below).
    • Week-to-week timeslot numbers (two According to Jim repeats):
      • Households – 3.2/6 to 3.8/6
      • Viewers – 4.62M to 5.34M
      • A18-49 – 1.5/5 to 1.8/5
  • 9:00 p.m.: The second repeat was of Desperate Housewives (3.2/5 HH rating, 4.54M viewers, 1.6/5 A18-49 rating). It tied for third place with Nanny 911 among households, but was fourth among total viewers and adults 18-49. Like ‘Grey’s’, though, the numbers were an improvement for ABC from the week prior (check below).
    • Week-to-week timeslot numbers (repeats of Knights of Prosperity & In Case of Emergency):
      • Households – 2.5/4 to 3.2/5
      • Viewers – 3.52M to 4.54M
      • A18-49 – 1.5/4 to 1.6/5
  • 10:00 p.m.: 20/20 (5.4/9 HH rating, 7.87M viewers, 2.6/8 A18-49 rating) fared much better than the rest of ABC’s lineup, providing a solid third place finish and showed good gains from the week prior (1.35M viewers, 12% among households and 18% among adults 18-49).
    • Episode-to-episode numbers:
      • Households – 4.8/6 to 5.4/9
      • Viewers – 6.52M to 7.87M
      • A18-49 – 2.2/6 to 2.6/8

Fox followed in fourth place for the evening with a 3.1/5 household rating, 4.17 million total viewers and a 2.1/6 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 3.1/5 HH rating [#4]
    • 5.16M viewers [#3]
    • 2.0/6 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • 8:00 p.m.: Kicking off the night for Fox was Nanny 911 (3.0/5 HH rating, 3.93M viewers, 1.8/6 A18-49 rating). Fourth for the hour among households and viewers and third among adults 18-49, performance was pretty much flat from last week.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 2.9/5 to 3.0/5
      • Viewers – 4.43M to 3.93M
      • A18-49 – 1.8/6 to 1.8/6
  • 9:00 p.m.: Closing the evening for Fox was Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy (3.2/5 HH rating, 5.20M viewers, 2.4/7 A18-49 rating). It was tied for third with Desperate Housewives among households, but alone among total viewers and adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.2/5 to 3.2/5
      • Viewers – 5.14M to 5.20M
      • A18-49 – 2.3/6 to 2.4/7

The CW finished in fifth place with a 2.6/4 household rating, 3.80 million total viewers and a 1.3/4 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 3.0/5 HH rating [#5]
    • 3.76M viewers [#5]
    • 1.3/4 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.: “WWE Smackdown” (2.6/4 HH rating, 3.80M viewers, 1.3/4 A18-49 rating) was down nearly a million viewers from the week prior as well as 13% among households and adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 3.0/5 to 2.6/4
      • Viewers – 4.76M to 3.80M
      • A18-49 – 1.5/4 to 1.3/4
