NBC Universal to launch new television network

NBCU has announced that Chiller, a 24-hour horror channel, will be launched by the corp. on March 1 on DirecTV, which NBCU already has a distribution agreement with. Chiller will feature classic horror films and TV programs from the NBCU vault.

The network will have three feeds, Standard-Definition, High-Definition and Video-On-Demand.

From the NBCU Press Release:

“We continually look at our options for launching new networks,” said Gaspin. “Horror is one of the most reliably successful genres in entertainment today and Chiller seems like a well-timed addition to our portfolio.”

Announced TV shows for the network include Twin Peaks, Tales From the Crypt and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, while on the film side there will be The Shining, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and The Birds and The Unholy.
