Broadcast TV Ratings for Monday, January 1, 2007

Fox’s first BCS college football game between Oklahoma and Boise State did well, winning the night among all main categories, but it was not as strong as previous presentations, nor was it the nights highest rated football game.

Fox finished in first place for the evening with a 7.5/12 household rating, 12.18 million total viewers and a 4.2/12 rating among adults 18-49.

  • Last Week:
    • 2.2/4 HH rating [#4]

  • 9:00 PM: According to preliminary fast national ratings, the primetime portion (9:00 to 11:00 PM) of the BCS Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma vs. Boise State (13.8M viewers, 4.9/12 A18-49 rating) gave Fox a win for the evening, but the performance was not as strong as previous Fiesta bowl matchups. For example, last year’s Ohio State/Notre Dame game delivered a much stronger 14.5/21 HH rating, 20.60M viewers, 6.7/19 A18-49 rating from 8:00 to 9:00 PM on January 2, 2006.
    • Finals for the game (which aired from about 9PM to around midnight ET., will be released tomorrow by Nielsen and should tick up some.)

CBS followed in second place for the evening with a 6.5/10 household rating and 10.12 million total viewers. Among adults 18-49, the Eye earned a 3.3/8 rating, a third place finish.
