Broadcast TV Ratings for Monday, December 25, 2006

NBC came away with the win on this Christmas night with a strong showing from the nights top-rated show among all main categories: “Deal or No Deal”.

NBC finished in first place for the evening with a 8.3/16 household rating and 14.94 million total viewers. Among adults 18-49, the Peacock earned a first place 4.9/14 rating.

  • Last Week:
    • 6.7/11 HH rating [#1]
    • 10.70M viewers [#1]
    • 3.5/9 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • 8:00 to 10:00 PM: A special two-hour Christmas edition of “Deal or No Deal” (9.0/17 HH rating, 16.45M viewers, 5.2/16 A18-49 rating) jumpstarted the peacock to a dominating performance for the evening. DOND was the nights highest rated show among all three main categories. As you can see from the numbers below, the program actually increased its viewers (1.15M) and adults 18-49 (16%) from last week’s episode. An impressive feat on a normally low-rated Christmas night.
    • Week-to-week numbers (8:00 to 9:00 PM — 12/18/2006):
      • Households – 9.5/15 to 9.0/17
      • Viewers – 15.30M to 16.45M
      • A18-49 – 4.5/12 to 5.2/16
  • 10:00 PM: NBC ended the evening with another gameshow, this time the freshman “1 vs. 100” (6.9/13 HH rating, 11.94M viewers, 4.2/12 A18-49 rating) holding on respectably to its lead-in numbers. The performance gave NBC the win for an evening where they led every hour among households, viewers and adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-week timeslot numbers (Series premiere of “Identity”):
      • Households – 7.5/11 to 6.9/13
      • Viewers – 12.18M to 11.94M
      • A18-49 – 4.5/11 to 4.2/12

ABC followed in second place for the evening with a 4.8/9 household rating and 8.64 million total viewers and a 3.2/9 rating among adults 18-49.

The performance was good enough to secure a second place for ABC, as the program improved every hour it was on.

CBS finished in third place for the evening with a 3.3/6 household rating and 5.11 million total viewers. Among adults 18-49, the Eye earned a 1.7/5 rating, also a third place finish.

  • 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM: A repeat of “Two and a Half Men” (3.9/7 HH rating, 5.95M viewers, 1.9/5 A18-49 rating) perked up some for CBS, which then led into another repeat of “How I Met Your Mother” (3.0/5 HH rating, 4.69M viewers, 1.6/5 A18-49 rating) which fell back down.
  • 10:00 PM: And ending the evening for CBS was a repeat of “CSI: Miami” (4.2/8 HH rating, 6.48M viewers, 2.1/6 A18-49 rating) which managed to be the top rated program for the network, but was still third for the hour behind “1 vs. 100″ and the last hour of ‘Pirates’.

  • 8:00 to 10:00 PM: Fox took its hand at programming a movie, with “Radio” (2.1/4 HH rating, 3.85M viewers, 1.3/4 A18-49 rating) but the movie did not perform nearly as well as ABC’s ‘Pirates’, and performed only well enough to beat the lowly CW network.

  • 9:00 and 9:30 PM: And repeats of “Girlfriends” (0.9/2 HH rating, 1.50M viewers, 0.6/2 A18-49 rating) and “The Game” (0.9/2 HH rating, 1.33M viewers, 0.5/1 A18-49 rating) ended another weak night for the freshman CW network.
