Showing just how strong a title it is, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest held off eight new releases this past week to stay atop the DVD charts for a second consecutive week.
Opening at a close number two for the week (with sales estimated at around 7% less than ‘Pirates’) was Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Other new releases in the top 10 for the week were paced by The Devil Wears Prada at number three, Barnyard at number four, World Trade Center at number five, Air Buddies at number six and The Fox and the Hound 2 at number eight.
Rounding out the top 1o was Cars which dropped from number three to number seven in its sixth week of release, Ice Age: The Meltdown which dropped from fifth to seventh in its fourth week in release and Superman Returns which fell from fourth place last week to 1oth this week in its third week of release.
Other new releases in the top 2o were Material Girls which debuted at number 13 and a special four disc edition of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe which opened at number 15.
Among TV shows on DVD, there were two shows in the top 20: 24: Season Five at number 18 (dropping from number six in its second week) and Grey’s Anatomy: Season 2 at number 20 (dropping from number 18 in its 14th week of release).
