Broadcast TV Ratings for Monday, November 6, 2006

The CMA Awards powers ABC to a rare Monday win in households, viewers and adults 18-49. NBC’s “Heroes” continues to impress, winning the evening in adults 18-49.


ABC finished in first place with a 9.9/15 HH rating (15.89M viewers) and a 5.4/13 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 4.9/7 HH rating [#4]
    • 7.05M viewers [#4]
    • 2.9/7 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, ABC aired the “40th Annual CMA Awards” (9.9/15 HH rating, 15.89M viewers, 5.4/13 A18-49 rating) gave ABC a nice boost in their goals towards winning the ratings race, though the program was down from last years numbers in households and viewers.
    • Year-to-year numbers (Tuesday, November 15, 2005 on CBS):
      • Households – 11.1/17 to 9.9/15
      • Viewers – 17.73M to 15.89M
      • A18-49 – 5.4/14 to 5.4/13

CBS followed in second for the evening with an 8.0/12 HH rating (12.54M viewers) and third in adults 18-49 delivering a 4.3/11 rating in that demo.

    • 7.5/12 HH rating [#2]
    • 11.43M viewers [#2]
    • 3.6/9 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • At 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, “How I Met Your Mother” (5.4/8 HH rating, 8.43M viewers, 3.3/9 A18-49 rating) and “The Class” (4.9/7 HH rating, 7.70M viewers, 2.9/7 A18-49 rating) showed dips from their most recent airings, with the class suffering the most.
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (“How I Met Your Mother” – 10/23/2006):
      • Households – 6.3/10 to 5.4/8
      • Viewers -9.59M to 8.43M
      • A18-49 – 3.6/10 to 3.3/9
    • Episode-to-episode numbers (“The Class” – 10/23/2006):
      • Households – 5.3/8 to 4.9/7
      • Viewers – 7.95M to 7.70M
      • A18-49 – 2.9/8 to 2.9/7
  • At 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, “Two and a Half Men” (9.2/13 HH rating, 14.54M viewers, 4.7/11 A18-49 rating) and “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (7.4/11 HH rating, 11.60M viewers, 3.7/9 A18-49 rating) stayed relatively consistent with their most recent airings.

      • Households – 9.8/14 to 9.2/13
      • Viewers – 15.03M to 14.54M
      • A18-49 – 4.7/11 to 4.7/11

      • Viewers – 12.10M to 11.60M

  • At 10:00 PM, “CSI: Miami” (10.6/17 HH rating, 16.50M viewers, 5.6/14 A18-49 rating).

      • Households – 11.7/19 to 10.6/17
      • Viewers – 17.83M to 16.50M
      • A18-49 – 6.1/15 to 5.6/14

NBC finished in third place with a 7.4/11 HH rating (12.21M viewers), and was second in adults 18-49 delivering a 4.8/12 rating in that demo.

    • 4.9/13 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Deal or No Deal” (9.0/13 HH rating, 14.51M viewers, 4.4/11 A18-49 rating) started off the evening for NBC down from the week prior in all categories, but none the less provided strong ratings for the peacock.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 10.4/16 to 9.0/13
      • Viewers – 16.84M to 14.51M
      • A18-49 – 4.8/13 to 4.4/11
  • At 9:00 PM, “Heroes” (8.4/12 HH rating, 14.33M viewers, 6.6/16 A18-49 rating) continues its strong run, matching a series high in the key adults 18-49 demo on its way to a win on the night in that demo.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 8.7/13 to 8.4/12
      • Viewers – 14.74M to 14.33M
      • A18-49 – 6.4/15 to 6.6/16
  • At 10:00 PM, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” (5.3/9 HH rating, 7.78M viewers, 3.3/9 A18-49 rating) can’t seem to increase its audience though it didn’t lose much of its audience from its previous airing. “Friday Night Lights” did better in viewers and adults 18-49 when NBC tested it in the timeslot last week.

      • Households – 5.2/8 to 5.3/9
      • Viewers – 7.72M to 7.78M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/9 to 3.3/9
    • Week-to-week timeslot numbers (“Friday Night Lights”):
      • Households – 5.3/9 to 5.3/9
      • Viewers – 8.29M to 7.78M
      • A18-49 – 3.5/9 to 3.3/9

Fox followed in fourth for the evening delivering a 4.4/7 HH rating (7.22M viewers) and a 2.7/6 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 4.9/7 HH rating [#3]
    • 7.73M viewers [#3]
    • 2.8/7 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Prison Break” (5.1/8 HH rating, 8.63M viewers, 3.5/9 A18-49 rating) gave another consistent performance for Fox.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 5.6/9 to 5.1/8
      • Viewers – 8.96M to 8.63M
      • A18-49 – 3.6/9 to 3.5/9
  • At 9:00 PM, “Justice” (3.8/6 HH rating, 5.81M viewers, 1.8/4 A18-49 rating) dipped from the previous week as Fox struggles to get good ratings out of any of their new offerings this fall season.
    • Week-to-week numbers:
      • Households – 4.3/7 to 3.8/6
      • Viewers – 6.50M to 5.81M
      • A18-49 – 2.1/5 to 1.8/4

 

The CW finished in fifth for the evening delivering a 2.1/3 HH rating (3.09M viewers) and a 1.4/3 A18-49 rating.

  • At 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, “Everybody Hates Chris” (2.4/4 HH rating, 3.50M viewers, 1.4/4 A18-49 rating) and “All of Us” (2.0/3 HH rating, 3.05M viewers, 1.3/3 A18-49 rating) stayed about even from the week prior.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“Everybody Hates Chris”):
      • Households – 2.3/4 to 2.4/4
      • Viewers – 3.56M to 3.50M
      • A18-49 – 1.4/4 to 1.4/4
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“All of Us”)::

  • At 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, “Girlfriends” (2.0/3 HH rating, 2.95M viewers, 1.4/3 A18-49 rating) and “The Game” (1.9/3 HH rating, 2.87M viewers, 1.3/3 A18-49 rating) like its lead-ins also stayed pretty even from the week before. The lineup though is down from the same time period last season.

      • Households – 2.1/3 to 2.0/3
      • Viewers – 3.12M to 2.95M
      • A18-49 – 1.5/4 to 1.4/3
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“The Game”):
