The October 31st doubleheader between the Chicago Bulls/Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns/Los Angeles drew the largest audience for a premiere night of basketball on TNT since the 2003-04 season, averaging a 1.7 household rating. That was up a strong 38% from last year’s opening-night doubleheader, which averaged a 1.3 household rating.

Showtime has ordered a second season of its new show “Dexter”. The series premiered with 603,000 viewers on Sunday, October 1 at 10:00PM with a solid 443,000 viewers tuning in for the immediate repeat at 11:00PM, bringing the total to 1.04M for the first episode. ABC and CBS split the night as CBS takes households and viewers and ABC wins the evening in adults 18-49 on the strength of another “Grey’s Anatomy” win. FOX’s “The O.C.” premieres very poorly.
