Broadcast TV Ratings for Monday, October 30, 2006

“Deal or No Deal” and “Heroes” leads NBC past a re-run filled CBS on the night in households, viewers and adults 18-49. “Heroes” wins the night in adults 18-49, while “Friday Night Lights” does well in its test time-slot.


NBC finished in first place with an 8.1/13 HH rating (13.29M viewers), and a 4.9/13 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 7.8/12 HH rating [#2]
    • 12.50M viewers [#2]
    • 4.6/11 A18-49 rating [#1]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Deal or No Deal” (10.4/16 HH rating, 16.84M viewers, 4.8/13 A18-49 rating), started off the evening for the peacock with a win on the hour in households, viewers and adults 18-49. The program was also up in all three categories very respectably from the week prior.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 9.8/15 to 10.4/16
      • Viewers – 15.52M to 16.84M
      • A18-49 – 4.4/12 to 4.8/13
  • At 9:00 PM, “Heroes” (8.7/13 HH rating, 14.74M viewers, 6.4/15 A18-49 rating) continues its string of strong ratings, increasing its households, viewers and adults 18-49 from the week prior. The show was easily the winner on the evening in adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 8.6/13 to 8.7/13
      • Viewers – 14.27M to 14.74M
      • A18-49 – 6.2/15 to 6.4/15
  • At 10:00 PM, “Friday Night Lights” (5.3/9 HH rating, 8.29M viewers, 3.5/9 A18-49 rating) tested fairly well in its temp slot. It increased its audience by nearly 2M viewers from its last new episode which aired Tuesday, October 24th. (6.33M viewers). It also improved the time-period in all three main categories from “Studio 60″, which is the time-period occupant, growing a very respectable 13% in adults 18-49.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”):
      • Households – 5.1/8 to 5.3/9
      • Viewers – 7.70M to 8.29M
      • A18-49 – 3.1/8 to 3.5/9

CBS followed in second for the evening with a 7.5/12 HH rating (11.43M viewers) and a 3.6/9 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 8.8/13 HH rating [#1]
    • 13.34M viewers [#1]
    • 4.5/11 A18-49 rating [#2]
  • CBS decided to air a string of repeats of which they got pretty good results, considering.
  • At 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, the results were: “How I Met Your Mother” (5.6/9 HH rating, 8.46M viewers, 3.0/8 A18-49 rating) and “The Class” (4.7/7 HH rating, 7.16M viewers, 2.5/6 A18-49 rating).
  • At 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, the results were: “Two and a Half Men” (8.9/13 HH rating, 13.77M viewers, 4.1/10 A18-49 rating) and “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (7.1/11 HH rating, 10.77M viewers, 3.3/8 A18-49 rating).
  • At 10:00 PM, the results were: “CSI: Miami” (9.5/16 HH rating, 14.20M viewers, 4.3/11 A18-49 rating).

Fox finished in third for the evening delivering a 4.9/7 HH rating (7.73M viewers) and a 2.8/7 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 4.7/7 HH rating [#4]
    • 7.34M viewers [#3]
    • 2.6/7 A18-49 rating [#4]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Prison Break” (5.6/9 HH rating, 8.96M viewers, 3.6/9 A18-49 rating) grew nicely from its premiere episode last week in all three main categories.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 5.3/8 to 5.6/9
      • Viewers – 8.47M to 8.96M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/9 to 3.6/9
  • At 9:00 PM, “Justice” (4.3/7 HH rating, 6.50M viewers, 2.1/5 A18-49 rating) also showed some growth from its new time-period launch last week. However, retention rates out of “Prison Break” are still low.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 4.2/6 to 4.3/7
      • Viewers – 6.21M to 6.50M
      • A18-49 – 2.0/5 to 2.1/5

ABC followed in fourth place with a 4.9/7 HH rating (7.05M viewers) but was third in adults 18-49, delivering a 2.9/7 rating in that demo.

  • Last Week’s Numbers:
    • 5.0/8 HH rating [#3]
    • 7.19M viewers [#4]
    • 2.9/7 A18-49 rating [#3]
  • At 8:00 PM, “Wife Swap” (4.4/7 HH rating, 6.49M viewers, 2.6/7 A18-49 rating) got ABC off to a slow start, dipping in all categories from the week prior and finishing in last place for the network.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 4.9/7 to 4.4/7
      • Viewers – 7.36M to 6.49M
      • A18-49 – 2.8/8 to 2.6/7
  • At 9:00 PM, “The Bachelor: Rome” (5.8/9 HH rating, 8.23M viewers, 3.2/8 A18-49 rating), stayed about as consistent as possible, posting almost identical numbers from the week prior.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 5.8/9 to 5.8/9
      • Viewers – 8.20M to 8.23M
      • A18-49 – 3.2/8 to 3.2/8
  • At 10:00 PM, “What About Brian” (4.6/8 HH rating, 6.44M viewers, 2.9/8 A18-49 rating) built some from the week prior, though I’m sure ABC would be much happier with a little better retention rates out of Bachelor. Needless to say, the show is still up from fourth episode of last season (4.1/7 HH rating, 6.03M viewers, 2.8/8 A18-49 rating).
    • Week-to-Week Numbers:
      • Households – 4.4/7 to 4.6/8
      • Viewers – 6.02M to 6.44M
      • A18-49 – 2.6/7 to 2.9/8

The CW finished in fifth for the evening delivering a 2.1/3 HH rating (3.15M viewers) and a 1.2/3 A18-49 rating.

  • Last Week’s Number’s:
    • 1.9/3 HH rating [#5]
    • 2.83M viewers [#5]
    • 1.4/3 A18-49 rating [#5]
  • At 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, “Everybody Hates Chris” (2.3/4 HH rating, 3.56M viewers, 1.4/4 A18-49 rating) and “All of Us” (2.1/3 HH rating, 3.08M viewers, 1.3/3 A18-49 rating) showed a much needed boost from last week.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“Everybody Hates Chris”):
      • Households – 2.1/3 to 2.3/4
      • Viewers – 3.18M to 3.56M
      • A18-49 – 1.2/3 to 1.4/4
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“All of Us”)::
      • Households – 2.0/3 to 2.1/3
      • Viewers – 2.92M to 3.08M
      • A18-49 – 1.2/3 to 1.3/3
  • At 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM, “Girlfriends” (2.1/3 HH rating, 3.12M viewers, 1.5/4 A18-49 rating) and “The Game” (1.9/3 HH rating, 2.84M viewers, 1.3/3 A18-49 rating) ended the evening for The CW, and like the two preceding series’, improved nicely from last week.
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“Girlfriends”):
      • Households – 1.8/3 to 2.1/3
      • Viewers – 2.77M to 3.12M
      • A18-49 – 1.2/3 to 1.5/4
    • Week-to-Week Numbers (“The Game”):
      • Households – 1.7/3 to 1.9/3
      • Viewers – 2.47M to 2.84M
      • A18-49 – 1.1/3 to 1.3/3
