Broadcast Evening News Ratings for 10/9 to 10/13

All three programs improved their audience from the week prior, but placements remain the same with NBC finishing in first, followed by ABC and then CBS.

The Katie Couric experiment seems to have failed, as viewers from the same frame last season when Bob Schieffer was the host are virtually identical to the current audience (7.338 million for Schieffer vs. 7.332 million for Couric).

Here are the average ratings for the week of October 9th to the 13th (From Nielsen Media Research data):

NBC – Nightly News with Brian Williams

  • 8,841,000 Viewers (+279,000 viewers)
  • 6.1/12 HH Rating (+0.3 rating points)
  • 2.3/9 A25-54 Rating (+0.1 rating points)
  • 1.7/8 A18-49 Rating (+0.1 rating points)

ABC – World News with Charles Gibson

  • 8,036,000 Viewers (+70,000 viewers)
  • 5.7/12 HH Rating (+0.1 rating points)
  • 2.2/9 A25-54 Rating (n/c)
  • 1.6/7 A18-49 Rating (n/c)

CBS – Evening News with Katie Couric

  • 7,332,000 Viewers (+294,000 viewers)
  • 5.2/11 HH Rating (+0.2 rating points)
  • 2.0/8 A25-54 Rating (+0.1 rating points)
  • 1.5/6 A18-49 Rating (+0.1 rating points)
