Broadcast TV Ratings for The Week of 9/25 to 10/01

Just like last week, it’s CBS taking the win in total viewers and ABC in A18-49.

The highest rated show for the week was CSI (breakdown below) and the best performing New show to launch last week was Ugly Betty - 16.32M viewers (#9) – 5.5 Rating. (this is the second week an ABC series leads the pack among new shows–last week Brothers & Sisters pulled in 15.69M viewers (#12)).

Breakdowns of each network follow below, as well as a chart detailing the top 25 programs of the past week.


CBS was first week for the week in total viewers (4.5/12, 12.8M), second in Adults 18-49 (3.9/11, 5.1M ) and first in Adults 25-54 (4.9/12, 6.1M).

  • -0.2M in total viewers and even in A18-49 and A25-54 from the week before.
  • Top program
    • CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
      • 23.77M viewers – (#1)
        • The series added about 1.2M from its season premiere.
        • Averaging 23.17M viewers (#2) through two episodes this season.

ABC was second for the week in total viewers (4.1/11, 11.5M), first in Adults 18-49 (4.0/11, 5.2M ) and second in Adults 25-54 (4.7/12, 5.7M).

  • -0.8M in total viewers, -0.6M in A18-49 and -0.4M in A25-54 from the week before.
  • Top program
    • Grey’s Anatomy
      • 23.48M viewers – (#2)
      • The series lost about 1.93M from last weeks premiere.
      • Averaging 24.44M viewers (#1) through two new episodes this season

NBC was third for the week in total viewers (3.7/10, 10.4M), second in Adults 18-49 (3.7/11, 4.9M) and third in Adults 25-54 (4.4/11, 5.4M).

  • -0.7M total viewers, -0.3M A18-49 and -0.2M from the week before.
  • Top Program
    • Law and Order: SVU (last week’s top show for the network was the Monday Edition of Deal or No Deal–went from 15.76M (#11) to 13.00M (#25))
      • 14.41M viewers – (#19)
      • SVU pretty much stayed even with last week (14.55M viewers – (#19)).
      • Averaging 14.48M viewers through two episodes.

FOX was fourth for the week in total viewers (2.3/6, 6.5M), fourth in Adults 18-49 (2.6/7, 3.4M ) and fourth in Adults 25-54 (2.7/7, 3.3M).

  • -1.0M total viewers, -0.6M A18-49 and -0.7M A25-54 from the week before.
  • Top Program
    • House
      • 13.67M viewers – 4.8 Rating (#21)
      • Increased 0.85M viewers from the week before

The CW was sixth for the week in total viewers (2.0/3, 2.8M), sixth in Adults 18-49 (1.2/3, 1.6M ) and first in Adults 25-54 (1.2/3, 1.4M).

  • Top Program
    • Smallville (last week’s top show for the network was America’s Next Top Model–that show went from 5.26M (#79) to 4.68M (#79)) this week.
      • 4.96M viewers – (#79)
      • This is down about 1M viewers from last year’s season 5 opener on The WB (5.90M viewers (#73t)) and about on par with the season 5 average (5.32M viewers).
