Warehouse 13 Premiere Draws 3.5 Million Viewers
Posted on July 8th, 2009 Comments
Last night’s premiere of Warehouse 13 on Syfy drew a respectable 3.5 million viewers, making Syfy the #1 most-watched ad-supported cable network in primetime Tuesday night.Fleshing out the numbers more fully, the two-hour premiere drew a 2.5 HH rating, 1.7 million Adults 25-54 and 1.3 million Adults 18-49. For comparison purposes, it’s the 3rd highest total viewership for a Syfy original series premiere, trailing only Stargate Atlantis (4.2 million on 7/16/2004) and Eureka (4.1 million on 7/18/2006).
Additionally, it was a stronger performance than the network’s last original series, Sanctuary, topping that series by 29% among viewers, 20% among Adults 18-49 and 15% among Adults 25-54.
One negative aspect I could find was pointed out by TV by the Numbers, who note that while the show out-drew the series finale of Battlestar Galactica by a hefty 1.1 million (2.4 million vs. 3.5 million), Battlestar Galactica managed a heftier 1.6 million viewers in the very key A18-49 demographic (300,000 viewers better than Warehouse 13).
That weaker position among Adults 18-49 and is also reflected in comparisons with other series premieres for the network:
- Eureka: 1.9 million Adults 25-54, 1.7 million Adults 18-49
- Stargate Atlantis: 2.5 million Adults 25-54, 2.1 million Adults 18-49
By the way if you haven’t seen it, Syfy (check out the new website at Syfy.com) aired a re-branding video before the premiere of Warehouse 13. Watch it and check out the official press release for the show’s premiere ratings after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

The event ran live from 1pm to 4pm ET on 19 networks: ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Telefutura, Telemundo, Univision, CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC, Headline News, BET, E!, MTV, VH1, VH1 Classic, TV Guide Network, and TV ONE.14.28 million of the viewers watched via the three main networks ABC (5.31M), NBC (5.12M) and CBS (3.89M), while 9.3 million watched on the four main cable news networks CNN (5.30M), Fox News (2.23M), MSNBC (1.39M) and HLN (377,000). The remaining 7.56 million came from the other 12 networks.
In terms of historical comparisons, it was behind the 35.07M who watched President Reagan’s burial in 2004 and the 33.25M who watched the funeral of Princess Diana in 1997.

Inglourious Basterds Final Cut Will Run 1 Minute Longer Than Cannes Version
Posted on July 8th, 2009 Comments
Those expecting a radically different version of Quentin Tarantino’s WWII epic Inglourious Basterds from what was shown at the Cannes Film Festival will be disappointed. The final version of the film is just one minute longer than what was presented at Cannes.“The movie is actually a minute longer, in running time, than it was in Cannes. It was 2:28, without end credits, and now it’s 2:29, or 2:32 with end credits,” he told DealMemo.
As to what’s been added, well if you read Anne Thompson’s piece from May, it’s exactly what she reported:
“I added a sequence between where Mike Myers and Michael Fassbender discuss Operation Kino [the plot to blow up a theater as Joseph Goebbels and other Nazi brass watch a film], and the shootout scene in the basement tavern La Louisiane. In Cannes, we went from one to the other. I’d shot another scene, right before that, where Fassbender meets The Basterds, before they go to La Louisiane. That’s back.”
Another scene was re-inserted, which Tarantino calls a “laugh-out-loud funny moment that introduces Goebbels’s French translator, and cuts to a scene where she and Hitler’s minister of propaganda are having raucous sex.” Other than a few cuts here and there to amp up the pace, there are no major changes.
